wood

Some time ago I started to decorate wooden hollow forms created by renowned woodturner Stuart Mortimer.

I enjoyed working images around the grain to create depth and a sense of things emerging from hidden places; but the most interesting grain would never be available in a viable format for larger paintings.

Looking into options I stumbled upon OSB, which offers complex random patterns that can be used to create the same feeling of layered depth, but is easy to source and cut to any size.
