Commission a portrait that’s as unique as the subject, one that reflects their personality. Any subject, size or format considered; objects, symbolic elements or text can be incorporated.
Pricing commissions
I offer bespoke commissions of almost any subject or size, as such prices are highly variable and based on the number of subjects, finished size, medium, substrate and whether gold or silver leaf is applied.
To give a rough guide - Charcoal portraits, around A2 in size, start from around £800, A1 from around £1500; Oil portraits start from around £1200 for roughly A2 size and around £2500 for A1 size. But I will always try to work around a client’s budget; send me some basic details and I can give you transparent, costed options.
The commissioning process
Some projects are obviously more complex, but the typical process starts with initial contact and a brief discussion around your requirements; followed by the provision of reference photos, or where geography/budget allow a meeting to gain reference images.
It’s often possible to enhance and clarify images enough to work from, feel free to email images so I can assess then for suitability.
After discussing your vision and preferences a rough mock-up would be produced to give an idea of final composition and some costed options if required.
Once the finished layout, budget and timeline are agreed work can commence and an initial payment of 50% would be requested.
On completion of the finished artwork contact is made and likely delivery agreed, taking drying time into account for oils; at this point final payment would be requested.

Commission Process for gold leaf, mixed media artwork
1. Consultation - Discuss concept, size, palette, and installation environment
2. Concept & Proposal - A concept proposal (including mock-up images) and timeline are provided for approval
3. Creation - The artwork is handcrafted in the studio using layered mixed-media and traditional gold leaf techniques
4. Delivery - On completion artworks are packaged and shipped worldwide
